Flan 2.0

[From 461 Stone Street, maniacal laughing echoes down the street. Within his home, Professor Desty Nova has regained items dear to his research and experimentation in Karmatology. His trademark goggles that double as super computer like devices, and a large vial of Nanomachines.]

[PHONE]

Kyhaha! I am ever so happy! I got back some quintessential equipment in my research! Though I must admit that it's becoming more difficult due to all the possible... aggression of our fellow residents, I am in much need of an assistant or bodyguard. Anyone who accepts will be given a most generous payment!

[Action - In front of 461 Stone Street.]

[Nova, with a wide grin on his face, as well as bizarre goggles, has set up a stand with dozens of cups of flan pudding. They're labelled as FREE. Dare you approach and try one?]

...

[She wonders how she should answer this question. She does not want to tell too much to this man that she has just met. She is also not sure how exactly she can describe her world.]

I come from a world much different from this one. There are others that I recognize here, but they come from yet other worlds that are similar to my world, but also very different.

[identity profile] flan4science.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Curious... though oddly vague.

I simply must ask for more details if you do not mind.

[identity profile] answerer-sword.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I am from Ireland in the 21st century. I was on a business trip to Japan before being transported here. My world's technology includes computers as well as complex biological and chemical discoveries, but I am not too clear on them.

[identity profile] flan4science.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Interesting.

I'm actually a few hundred years ahead of you!

It must have been quite an interesting time to live.

[identity profile] answerer-sword.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
So I suppose your technology must have progressed further than that of my world. Is that why this puddings tastes so good? Future cooking methods?

[identity profile] flan4science.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Kyahaha!

Indeed, though I must confess I merely used a personal recipe.

Though I have invented a nano-matter flan converter back home and I could easily make one here!

[identity profile] answerer-sword.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Nano-matter...flan converter...What is it?

[He has clearly lost her by now.]

[identity profile] flan4science.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Quite simple really!

It takes in ordinary matter such as rocks, garbage, etcetera, and through the wonders of Nanotechnology, morphs the elements into Flan pudding.

Though I confess that I am rather fond of homemade cooking.

[identity profile] answerer-sword.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
[She stares at the pudding she is holding in her hand, silently grateful that the man has yet to regain his machine.]

I am not sure such flan would be safe for human consumption, however good it would look and taste.

[identity profile] flan4science.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, trust me, it is!

It's also eco-friendly.

[identity profile] answerer-sword.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
[She wonders if she really can trust him.]

Still, would not such a technology be better used to generate more staple foods like bread?

[identity profile] flan4science.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
...

[Just raising a brow]

Now that's just crazy.

Though my nanotechnology has many medical and karmatonical uses as well!

[identity profile] answerer-sword.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[Though his logic sounds strange, she has met some equally eccentric magi, so his logic concerning his nanotechnology does not sound too strange.]

I have...never heard of a thing such as "karmatony"

[It did not seem to be any school of science or magecraft.]

[identity profile] flan4science.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
No, no. Karmatonics!

I invented the science you see. The tiniest matter in the Universe are my theorized 'karmatons' which manifest in interaction with other karmatons and matter. For with each action comes a reaction, and through my science it will allow the control of destiny itself!

[identity profile] answerer-sword.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
That does not sound much like science.

[It sounds more like magecraft. However, it is still interesting to consider.]

[identity profile] flan4science.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
As I said, it is more a theoretical, but a science none the less that through my experiments shall yield the end result!

... care for another flan?

[identity profile] answerer-sword.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
No thank you.

[It tastes good, but she is unsure what went into it.]

[identity profile] flan4science.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Very well...

One more question.

What i it that you desire in this life?

[identity profile] answerer-sword.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 07:30 pm (UTC)(link)
My desire?

[She wonders what she should say. Should she tell the truth? Should she obscure it with something else?]

Does it apply to just this moment, or my life in general?

[identity profile] flan4science.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
In general, life, anything!

Whatever it is that you hope your actions will get you.

[identity profile] answerer-sword.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
My actions...

[She has to think a bit on that.]

What if my dream is impossible within the confines of my world?

[identity profile] flan4science.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
How so?

Almost nothing is impossible!

[identity profile] answerer-sword.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
If you put it that way...

[She has two choices. She could tell him about the goal she holds as an Enforcer and a Red Branch Knight, or she could tell him her true dream. She decides on the first option, since the second one is a little too personal.]

I wish to preserve the harmony of the world, protect the innocent, and uphold justice.

[But from her shaky tone, it is obvious that she is lying.]

[identity profile] jaws5sonofjaws.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
My! What lofty goals! And such strong morality to go with them, how very nice.

[Nova takes a cup and spoonful of his own flan.]

But dare I ask, is that all you want? Nothing more... selfish?

...Wrong journal, I'm afraid

[identity profile] answerer-sword.livejournal.com 2012-01-03 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I...I...

[She is at a loss about what to say.]

Maybe, there is more...

[The words come out as little more than a whisper.]

(Sorry about that, I made a mistake)

[identity profile] flan4science.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Oh REALLY.

Please, I must know what more there is to you.

I simply must.

Re: (Sorry about that, I made a mistake)

[identity profile] answerer-sword.livejournal.com 2012-01-04 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
I...

[She suddenly feels uneasy around the man.]

Um...it's embarrassing. I do not believe you would wish to hear it.

[As a magus, she is bound to the law of equivalent exchange. In return for this man's pudding, she will do her best to answer his questions, but she now she is unsure if she wants to give him any more answers.]

[identity profile] flan4science.livejournal.com 2012-01-05 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh believe me

I would.

[Nova doesn't smile evily outright, but his smile does grow wider.]

[identity profile] answerer-sword.livejournal.com 2012-01-05 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
In that case...

[Her face is already red, but now it blushes even redder.]

I-I wish to save a man...

[She stops herself there. That had been her wish before she had come here. However, now that she is here, she could tell that the man in question did not saving. No, he is already happy enough here. All she needs to do is protect his happiness.]

Allow me to correct myself. I wish to protect a man.
